Purpose-built for accessible cruising, the new model is the first power catamaran in its size range to feature a fully integrated interior elevator.
Horizon Power Catamarans has announced the debut of the PC68A, an innovative addition to its model lineup that establishes a new benchmark for accessible yacht design. Purpose-built around independent mobility, the PC68A is the first power catamaran of its size to feature a fully integrated interior elevator while incorporating a host of thoughtfully engineered accessibility features from the dock to the flybridge.
Developed in collaboration with Horizon Group’s Vision Shipyard in Taiwan, the PC68A springs from Horizon Power Catamarans’ proven PC68 platform. Vision Shipyard President Austin Lin and The Powercat Company Founder and CEO Richard Ford re-engineered the platform from the ground up, evaluating every aspect of owner movement throughout the yacht to create an experience that is intuitive and uncompromising in luxury.
“Designing for accessibility isn’t about adding features,” says Richard Ford, Founder and CEO of The Powercat Company. “It’s about removing obstacles before they’re ever encountered. We wanted to create a yacht that allows owners to move naturally throughout every space while preserving everything people love about the Horizon PC68.”
Accessibility begins before stepping aboard. A retractable boarding ramp, widened side boarding gates and a hydraulic hi-lo platform provide five wheelchair-friendly boarding options, while a relocated tender crane enables independent transfers between yacht, dock, and tender. Automatic salon doors, level flooring, and generous passageways continue the uninterrupted flow throughout the main deck.
The centerpiece of the design is a fully integrated elevator engineered specifically for the PC68A. Connecting the master stateroom in the starboard hull, the main deck, and the flybridge and Portuguese Deck, the elevator features frameless glass doors and an integrated rotating platform that aligns the wheelchair for natural entry and exit regardless of direction. It marks the first installation of its kind aboard a power catamaran in this size range.
The owner’s suite, galley, and accommodations have likewise been custom engineered around independent mobility. From a reconfigured galley with repositioned appliances to a purpose-built transfer platform in the master stateroom, each detail reflects Horizon’s philosophy that accessibility should be seamlessly integrated into the yacht rather than added as an afterthought.
Beyond accessibility, the PC68A also boasts Horizon’s Silent Living Package, combining a 1,600 amp-hour Victron battery bank with a Termodinamica air conditioning system to provide generator-free operation for up to 20 hours per day. Powered by twin MAN i6 850-horsepower engines, the yacht cruises comfortably at 20 knots with a top speed of approximately 25 knots while simultaneously recharging the onboard battery system through high-output alternators.
The first PC68A will make its global debut at the 2026 Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show.
