The Third FD for a European Client, a Horizon FD87 Skyline Prepares for Final Testing

12 October 2018

Following the delivery of a second Horizon FD85 to its European owner in March, a third FD yacht – a Horizon FD87 Skyline – is ready for final testing in the dry dock. Built in less than seven months, this Horizon FD87 Skyline is the first enclosed bridge model sold to the European market, and, completely customized to her owner’s specifications, is also the first 87ft Horizon luxury yacht to feature the new walkaround deck design on the flybridge. The sound attenuation aboard the FD87 Skyline is but one of the many reasons the owner loves this model.

Last year, at the Cannes and Monaco boat shows, the owner visited and was very impressed by the FD85 motoryacht model on display. In April 2018, he visited the shipyard in Taiwan to view the FD87 Skyline, which piqued his interest. Horizon’s in-house team immediately provided multiple packages and options to the owner in a short time, and he decided that the FD87 Skyline was his dream yacht.

Over dinner, the CEO of Horizon Yachts, John Lu, asked the owner what he thought of Horizon. The owner explained that he had visited many European shipyards during the search for his next yacht, and discovered that many of them have a practice of subcontracting work to smaller shipyards, which can cause issues in quality control. “On my visit, what impressed me most were Horizon’s professional in-house naval architect and interior design team and the one-stop manufacturing service. These are rarely seen among global yacht builders, and this makes me feel comfortable putting my trust in Horizon as a manufacturer,” said the owner.

It took an astonishing seven months after the owner’s visit to build this incredibly customized yacht, which will deliver to her owner at the end of October. Everyone at Horizon Yachts is excited to see her appear along the beautiful European coastline and help create wonderful memories for her owner and family!
